Fair Share Food Bank needs our help!

Fare Share Food BankAt this time of year, we ask you to especially remember the FARESHARE FOOD BANK in Oakville as their EASTER Food Drive is in progress. If you could just add an item or two to your shopping cart when you are doing your shopping in the next several weeks, it would be so helpful. Any donations Fare Share receives at this time of year will primarily have to carry them through to Thanksgiving. Should you prefer to make a financial donation, please do so through your envelope or through the Church Office, clearly noting “FareShare Food Bank Donation”.

The most needed items are:  Soda Crackers (4 sleeve), Peanut Butter (small) and Kids’ Snacks of fruit cups, raisins and/or rice krispie squares, although all and any items are appreciated. For more information about needs, or the way the Food Bank operates, entirely with volunteers, please visit their website at: www.oakvillefoodbank.com

For the next few weeks, we will have special boxes at all church entrances for your convenience. Thank you in advance for anything you can spare. Out of our abundance, O Lord.

Welcoming Syrian Refugees

The Outreach Committee is sponsoring a gathering in Bronte Hall on April 10th, starting at 3:00 pm, to explore the issues around welcoming Syrian Refugees. We will have short presentations about what is happening in the Oakville and Hamilton areas, including private and government-sponsored refugees. As Christians, we show our faith in welcoming the stranger. This meeting will show us some ways that we can do that. We also hope to have some refugees, who have come to Canada in previous years, participate. Plan to come and bring others. We will, of course, have the usual Walton warm welcome, coffee and snacks! If you have questions, please contact Jessie through the church office — office@waltonmemorial.com
