This week’s Sunday School & Youth News

Sunday School Jan 29 @ Walton United Church, Oakville, OntarioThis week in Sunday School love is in the air: God’s love for us and our love for God.

Don’t forget next week is Bring a Friend Sunday! Invite a friend to come in  PJ’s for breakfast at “Wake Up With Walton,” then stay for the 9:30 service and a special Sunday School friendship craft.

Everyone is welcome!

Reboot…. Sunday School is rebooting….

We need your help!  Wait, please don’t stop reading saying, “I don’t know how to teach?”  I did that a long time ago, I’m too old to do that?”  “I don’t have the time.  I’m so busy!”

Those are only reasons to miss the wonderful blessing of sharing God’s love and God’s Word, with eager, hopeful young eyes and ears. It is losing out on the opportunity to share your love of children and to help our Walton Children and Youth to see faith in action.  We are looking for Sunday School Teachers and Helpers to learn and grow with the Children and Youth. We are flexible, and we have a variety of ages you can share time with.  Lesson plans are provided, it is an hour on Sunday morning, but a gift of God’s Word for a child’s lifetime. Please contact Alison or Val in the office or for this amazing opportunity, gift and blessing.

Emergency Protocol

ambulanceWalton has an established protocol to deal with any emergency health concerns of worshippers in the Sanctuary, during services or elsewhere in the building, Sunday mornings or throughout the week.

This plan has been worked out, over the years, in consultation with Medical Professionals in the congregation, and with staff. As well, a thorough review is done of every emergency, after it has taken place, as to how our response could be improved. We average 4 of these incidents every year.

As part of this policy, the Walton worship service will continue, unless an EMS Responder requests it be stopped, or the service hinders the care of the individual, or the physical well-being of the other worshippers.

Walton is blessed to have many people in the congregation medically trained, who are able to respond to these emergencies, without the Staff intervening. It is difficult to continue to run the service for those in leadership, as quite often this is a friend, or family member being looked after, but this is the protocol which we have all agreed upon.

We thank you for your care and concern of our Walton Family members.

fabricDo you have any festive fabric left over from your holiday crafts? Let us help you de-clutter! Simply drop any unwanted Christmas fabrics off at the church office and we will put them to good use in a special Sunday School craft. All donations gratefully appreciated.

It’s not too late to join us!

Youth Confirmation high school, university and college age youth, if you would be interested in being part of the Youth Confirmation Program at Walton for 2017, please contact Val through the church office –

Our gathering times will take place on various Sunday mornings following Teen Talk 11:00 am-12:30 pm. The Youth Confirmation service will be in April.

If you have never been baptised this is not a problem. We encourage you, our youth, to pray on this and talk it over with your parents about this important decision in your faith journey. We hope you will consider this invitation to join with other teens your age, to grow in your faith, to learn more about God, and be part of the Youth Confirmation program. If you feel you need a little while to grow in your faith you are welcome to take part in the next confirmation class in 2019.
