*NEW* Sock Fest Sunday will soon be here! This year’s theme is “Sock it to Our Snow Friend”, and on Sunday, September 20, we will be tossing warm thermal socks for men and women into the big snowperson at the front of the church. These gifts will warm the feet and hearts of people who need them and let them know someone cares. These socks will be distributed through Kerr Street Mission, Wesley and the Lighthouse Shelter. Thanks so much for your caring and for supporting this mission!
*NEW* Youth Group Start Up – Friday, September 11th at 7:00 pm. Our Junior (grades 6 – 8) and Senior Youth Groups (grades 9-12+) meet every Friday night beginning Friday, September 11th. The focus is on fun and friendship in a safe, secular environment, and friends are always welcome. The schedule alternates between activities held at church, such as game night, movie night, cookie decorating, etc., and outside events like bowling, laser tag, corn maze, and more. Council Meeting – Hope you had a great summer break, Council & Committees. Our first Council meeting of the 2026-2027 year is Tuesday, September 8th, at 7:30 pm in Bronte Hall. Hope you can join us!
UCW Start Up -Walton’s first fall UCW meeting will be held on Thursday, September 10th at 1:30pm. Cathy of “Beads for Africa” will be updating us on her most recent trip and bringing beaded items for purchase as well as some small tasks that we can help with if we so choose. All Walton women are warmly welcome to come out and enjoy tea, coffee, treats and chat. Bring any unwanted beads you may have that Cathy may be able to make use of.
Do you enjoy singing? Walton Choirs are starting soon…. Chancel Choir is having their first practice on Thursday, September 10th at 8:00 pm in the Sanctuary. Junior Choir and Youth Choir start up again on Thursday, September 17th at 7:00 pm. Junior Choir (Grades 1-5) is in the Gathering Room from 7:00 pm to 7:45 pm. Youth Choir (Grades 6-12) is in the Sanctuary from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
RALLY DAY 7 VBS REUNION – On Sunday, September 13th at 10:00 am join us as we welcome back Sunday School, Junior & Senior Youth Group and our friends from VBS. Enjoy a tasty BBQ after the service. Everyone is welcome!
“Hands & Hearts” Tuesday, September 15th, 9:30 – 11:00 am, in Bronte Hall. “With hearts full of love and hands ready to serve, we work together in Christ’s name.” (based on Colossians 3:23 and 1 Thessalonians 1:3) You are invited to join together for coffee and to do little jobs around the church, they will vary depending on needs… cleaning the hurricane lamps from the Sanctuary, tidying up cupboards, putting labels on envelopes, each week will be different…a time to work together. Let’s join together to help our church family in many different ways.
Outreach Meeting – Our first Fall Outreach Meeting is happening on Wednesday, September 16th at 7:00 pm in Youth Hall.
*NEW* Orange Shirt Sunday on September 27th, we invite you to wear an orange shirt, as we honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a symbol of support and awareness for Indigenous residential school Survivors and victims.
Health & Wellness Group – Wednesday, September 30th at 9:30 am in Bronte Hall. If you have wondered what this group is about? Please call Cathy Winn through the Church Office to get more information.
Reception & Transfer of Membership on Sunday, October 4th, 2026. If you would like to transfer to Walton from another congregation, please contact the Church Office. If you are a confirmed member of any Christian denomination, you are able to transfer to Walton. For more information, please contact Rev. Jim or the Church Office.
Coat Drive…… “Cleaning out your closets….. Please consider donating your coats to the Bronte Coat Drive. This year’s Coat Event is happening on October 17th, 2026. If you can possibly give some warmth to those who need it, we will be happy to take it now. Just contact Ruth at 905-220-8861 or through the church office.
Looking to Fall Bible Study on ‘James’, we would like to begin Bible Study on Thursday, October 29th for 6 weeks, ending Thursday, December 3rd, with the option of having a 7th session on Thursday, December 10th in Bronte Hall, same time, 10:15 to 11:45.
No, Rev. Jim does not carry you down the centre aisle… have you never been Baptised and thought of being baptized as an adult? Maybe you never were confirmed and thought about that too? It is never too late! Walton is offering an Adult Preparation Session for Adult Baptism/ Confirmation on Saturday, November 21, from 9:30am to 3:30pm in Bronte Hall, including lunch. Summer is a season of flip-flops, relaxed schedules, vacations, and new adventures. It’s also a time to explore what it means to follow Jesus in our everyday lives.
Join us this summer as we journey together through stories of faith, discipleship, grace, and hope. Whether you’re here every week or only able to join us occasionally, there’s always a place for you.

Each Sunday offers a fresh opportunity to connect, worship, and grow in faith. Every service stands on its own, so join us for one Sunday, a few Sundays, or the entire series. No perfect attendance required—just bring your flip-flops and an open heart!

Also, Youth Programming is offered each Sunday during the service, following the Youth Story, with all ages gathering in Bronte Hall to build our faith through scripture, games, music and crafts. Our theme this year is “All Creatures Great and Small.” 🌞👣✝️
Walton Memorial Church Office Summer Hours – Beginning Tuesday, June 30 and running until Monday, September 7, there will be no set office hours. Someone will be in the office working at some point each day. They will be monitoring the main church email office@waltonmemorial.com and the voicemail 905-827-1643. The regular Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday office hours will not be taking place over the summer. You can call, email or text to see if someone is in the office when you wish to come by, or you can set an appointment ahead of time to see who you wish to see. Staff can be contacted by their regular email over the summer. In case of an emergency, email Rev. Jim jamescgillwuc@gmail.com
