The Outreach Committee is an integral part of Walton United Church.
The mission of the Walton Outreach Committee is to provide ways for the people of the Walton congregation and community to demonstrate our love of God to our neighbours in our local community and in the global community. Members are involved in raising funds to help in disaster and poverty-stricken areas around the world and also provide support to local programs in Halton and Hamilton; often working in partnership with other Outreach Ministries offering basic emergency services and resources for anyone who is struggling.
From collecting small coins to overseas travel to cooking dinners, Walton is there.

Sock It To Me Sunday in September – a day of great fun as we donate hundreds of pairs of warm winter socks directly into basketball hoops and baskets – later these are donated through the Wesley Day Centre or Kerr Street Mission to folks who need them desperately.
Mitten Trees rising up for the month of November – our trees, both in the Sanctuary and in Bronte Hall, come into full bloom as we receive many, many donations of knitted hats, mitts, scarves to be distributed just as the cold weather arrives.
White Gift Sunday on the second Sunday of Advent – congregants bring in an unwrapped gift or gift card for distribution at the Christmas Store of Wesley Urban Ministries and other local identified areas of need. Most gifts range around $25. and may be for any age group – children, teens, adults.
Personal Care Kits – we encourage everyone to pick up one of the beautiful hand-sewn personal care kit bags at any time throughout the year – fill them with items such as soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, hairbrush, towel suited either to a male or female. A member of our committee co-ordinates this collection and distributes the personal care kits to caring programs in Halton Region who serve those who are vulnerable.
Wesley Day Centre in Hamilton – volunteers prepare, provide and serve a Sunday Dinner to more than 200 persons in November each year, taking the opportunity to visit and interact with the dinner guests and, as well, bring them a small gift.
FareShare Food Bank, Oakville – apart from our ongoing weekly collection box, we hold special drives at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas and find our special boxes overflowing with donations to the Food Bank as well as generous congregational financial donations. Every month, Committee Members donate personally to provide much-needed ongoing financial assistance.
Shifra House – various donations are delivered on a regular basis to assist with the programs at Shifra.
Participation in the Bronte Village Stakeholders has Outreach volunteers helping with the delivery of monthly Fresh Food Boxes and organizing and working at the Annual Coat Drive in October each year. The Coat Drive usually sees 1,000 coats come in and 700- 800 coats go out on the day of the event; the balance going to the shelters.
