Rev. Jim Gill, Minister of Worship, came to Walton having previously served the Bruce Mines/Desbarats Pastoral Charge near Sault Ste. Marie and Islington United Church in Toronto.
Under his leadership of over 30 years, Walton has experienced growth in membership, church facilities, activities, programs, staffing and community involvement through outreach. Jim welcomes people into the Congregation through Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals and Group Studies. He was recently acknowledged for marrying more couples each year than anyone else in The United Church of Canada.
Jim has overseen five major renovations and expansions during his tenure, as the church has worked to meet the needs of the Walton expanding community of faith. A new major kitchen reno is being worked on now for the summer of 2020.
Jim is Walton’s longest-serving pastor. He was instrumental in instituting a Student Minister Internship program which became the longest-running congregational program in the denomination. His ability to reach out to people, his energy and organizational skills continue to be a blessing to the congregation and community. His dedicated service to his congregation and his tireless ministry to reach those without a church home will surely provide for the well-being of the church.
