New & Notable – Week of April 19, 2015

THANK YOU

The Auction Committee would like to thank all who made our 2015 Auction a success. This includes all of you who donated items and money, all who canvassed, who bid and/or purchased items the day of the auction and the Sunday after, those of you who brought your family and friends, the Congregational Life Committee who provided delicious food,  the many volunteers who worked so hard the day of the Auction and the day before setting up, the volunteers who delivered the fliers in the Burlington/Oakville area, and members of the Staff who did so much for us. The Annual Auction at Walton is certainly a team effort of many persons working together willingly and cheerfully which makes it an enjoyable experience as well as profitable for all.  Updated results of the Auction will be in future bulletins. Don’t forget this Sunday and next the back table items and Gift Certificates will be for sale in Bronte Hall following both services. The Auction Committee appreciates and values your support.  Thank You!

FAMILY FUN FAIR – CAKES, CAKES, CAKES

5920122416_52259d6e65_oEvery year at the Family Fun Fair we have an activity called the “famous” Cake Walk! The children plan their cake-walk strategies weeks ahead and cannot wait to choose a special cake to take home. If you find it possible to attend the event and watch this game playing out, you will hear squeals of delight as another young person at the Walton Fun Fair is so.o.o.o.o thrilled to win that special cake.

Each year, the Outreach Committee hopes to have 30 cakes to delight the youngsters at the Fun Fair. If you find it possible to donate a cake this year, it will be most appreciated. Cakes can be outstandingly beautiful, themed, or very unusual – gummie worms, tootsie rolls and sour balls often figure largely in the decoration – lots of icing – and featuring chocolate and candies – you get the idea. Call Ruth Perkins (905-631-6188) or contact any member of the Outreach Committee if you need information or would like to register as one of the cake bakers! Thanks in advance.
