The Journey

Lent is a journey towards the ultimate expression of Christian faith – the cross – as seen in both the sacrifice of Good Friday and the triumph of Easter Sunday. The passage of Lent offers us an opportunity to reflect on what our faith means to us, and how it can shape our lives.

Faith is a gift to each one of us, given by God the Father, revealed in the life of Jesus, God the Son, and enriched by the working of God the Holy Spirit. And while this gift is made equally available to all of us, the way our faith is expressed will be unique to each one of us, in our worship, our relationship with God and our lives in the world.

As we begin this Lenten journey, pause and contemplate two questions based on the ministry of John Wesley: how’s your faith? And what was the last thing God said to you? Those can be deeply confronting questions and answers may come immediately as well as over time. How might you open your heart and your soul to let Lent be a time of conversation with God? A period of reflection and renewal for your faith this year?

John 3: 16-17

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
