At this time of year, we ask you to remember the FARESHARE FOOD BANK in Oakville as the THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE approaches. Adding a few items to your weekly shopping list for the food bank would be very helpful.
Their greatest needs are: → Rice (700gm to 950gm) → Instant Coffee (Regular and Decaf) → Pasta/Rice Side Dish → Crackers → Jam → Oatmeal → Tea (Regular, Green, Herbal) → Toiletries
Snacks for kids: → fruit cups → puddings → nut free cereal bars
Donated items can be placed in the baskets near each entry.
We’d also appreciate donations of less perishable fruits & vegetables for our Harvest Table, decorating the sanctuary on Thanksgiving Sunday, October 12th. These items will be taken to the food bank afterwards.
If you prefer to make a monetary donation, do so through your church envelope or online, clearly noting, “Fareshare Food Bank Donation”.

Any donation for Ukraine will be added to your annual givings and will be included in your end of 2022 official tax receipt from Walton.
You can also text a donation, by sending a text to 84321 with a dollar amount followed by “ukraine” e.g. “$25 ukraine”

Each year in October, we take some time to focus on Stewardship and what that means as we grow in our faith and relationship with God.

Dear Walton Friends,
It’s that time of year again – temperatures are cooling, leaves are changing colour and for the Sundays of October 19 and 26 we take time at Walton to reflect on Stewardship.
Although October is the time that we focus on Stewardship, it really is an integral part of our faith and our lives as followers of Christ. It truly is “heart work.”
Part of our faith, part of why we join the Walton family, is because Christianity is about community. And we are all called to be part of our church community in any number of ways. How we give of our time, talent, and treasure is different for each one of us. Sometimes we are in a place where we can share all three. Sometimes, because of different circumstances, we might only be able to give in one way.
During this Stewardship reflection, we ask you to think about your “heart work.” How can you contribute to Walton and our community of faith?
• If you have time, you can support various ministries, such as Sunday school, nursery care, computer assistance, recording the service, ushering, and many others.
• If you have a special talent such as music, carpentry or even juggling, there is likely a place for it to shine. Check in with the office.
• Treasure, your financial gift to Walton, is essential to support all of our ministries. If you’re able to increase your givings, please consider doing so. Even a small increase can make a huge difference. If you are on PAR, simply contact the office to request an increase. This year, we have a budgeted deficit of $25,100. Everything we can do to decrease that deficit is a huge help.
In whatever way you choose to do the “heart” work of Stewardship, it is deeply appreciated.

Walton’s Stewardship committee works in collaboration with both Administrative and Ministerial staff to deliver a holistic Stewardship program at Walton. The Stewardship Program at Walton includes Year-Round Congregational Stewardship with a focus on Six Best Practices.
Annual programs supported by the Stewardship Committee:
1. Our PAR program – Pre-Authorized Remittance or PAR is a program administered by the United. You can sign up online.
2. The Church of Canada allows members to give regularly to the church – even when they are away or on vacation! We know that as our membership in the PAR program increases, so too does our financial stability and our ability to forecast and plan for the future.
3. Fall Annual Givings Review — each year we celebrate stewardship at Walton and ask members and adherents to assist in the budgeting process by making estimates of their annual giving.
4. Annual Narrative Budget — the Annual Narrative Budget helps tell the congregation’s story and connects the Time, Talent and Treasures we invest with the congregation’s ministries
5. Special Needs and Capital Projects: In some years, we require special efforts to meet unusual needs or capital projects. Stewardship leads fundraising initiatives to meet these needs.
In recent years, special fundraising initiatives have included:
2014 – Heating revitalization and Air conditioning installation in the Sanctuary 2011 – Restoration of our 100-year-old Stained Glass Windows 2005 – Repairs to the church foundation after a collapsed wall 2003 – Repainting of the church 2022 – Commercial Kitchen Current – Accessible front entrance
