Fulfil

The birth of Jesus fulfils a number of promises – those made to Mary, Joseph and Zechariah, as well as those made to the Old Testament prophets. And our celebration of Jesus’ birth reminds us that God’s promise to us is fulfilled as well – that God is with us, today and always.
Dear Lord, ever-present God,
You are with us always, in our joy and our sorrow; in our anticipation and our memories; in our hopes and our fears. Remind us that you are always at our side, and that your promises to us will forever be fulfilled.
Amen.
Matthew 3: 1-3, 11
22 All this took place to fulfil what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet:
23 “Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,”
which means, “God is with us.”
