Thank you — White Gift Service

Thank you Lori and Kimberley Kirkpatrick and all the children, youth and Sunday School children, Junior and Youth Choirs,
Stephanie & Linda, involved with the White Gift Service play, “Glory to God in the Highest,” last Sunday. Thank you to the Walton Family for their generosity with the White Gifts brought forward. Thank you to Kathy Morch for sharing her skills and hours and hours of work to help the Sunday School Banners, Christmas Carols, come to life, here in the Sanctuary. Kathy, along with the help of the Sunday School Children (and teachers and parents), created banners of some of the favourite Christmas Carols sung through this special season of Advent and Christmas. Thank you to everyone who donated Christmas fabric through the year, to be used on our wonderful banners. Thank you to Michelle Lockhart for backstage help, and Kelly Thomas for the wonderful, delicious snack between services to recharge the children for the second service. Last but not least, thank you to Alison King and Val Waldron for their coordination of the White Gift Service and bringing it all together for a service praising God, and the great gift of His Son, Jesus. As we continue our journey to Christmas, please help us to remember God’s gift of Jesus to each one of us, let us give thanks and share his hope, peace joy and love this Christmas season.

Cookie Walk

Cookie Walk @ Walton United Church, Oakville, Ontario

Walton’s U.C.W. were overwhelmed with the generosity and spirit of our amazing congregation. The cookies and squares were simply beautiful and we received more than ever. A huge thank you to everyone who donated such wonderful, delicious cookies and those who came to purchase their box(es) of cookies to support the U.C.W.  U.C.W. raised $1, 240.00. Thanks to the Junior Youth Group and their Leader who put all the boxes together and decorated a number of cookies for the Cookie Walk. Thanks to The Fruit of the Vine ladies who came and helped set out the trays, and thanks to the ladies who helped with the planning and came at the beginning and stayed until the very end. Our Annual Cookie Walk was started by Henny Degenhardt 45 years ago, and some of Henny’s family came to celebrate this 45th Anniversary. In loving memory, we missed our long-standing chair lady, Shirley Walmsley.

Christmas Memorials

Poinsettias - Memorials @ Walton United Church, Oakville, Ontario

Anyone connected with the Walton congregation has the opportunity of making a special Memorial Gift to Walton at Christmas time. These Memorial gifts will all be listed in a special bulletin on Sunday, December 17th, 2017 and dedicated at the 9:30am & 11:00am service. Suggestions of memorials this year are: red or white poinsettias or white mums, and donations to the Walton Benevolent Fund (see next page for the write up) Please contact the Church office to make your donation, whether it be Flowers or Benevolent Fund donations, so they can be listed in the bulletin as part of the dedication. The deadline for your donations to be included in the December 17th, bulletin, is 9:00am Tuesday, December 12th, we would not want to miss putting your gift in this special bulletin, so please contact the Office as soon as possible office@waltonmemorial.com

WHAT IS THE BENEVOLENT FUND?? HOW DOES WALTON HELP PEOPLE??
There have been requests to explain what this fund is all about. Many people are not even aware of its existence. It is a confidential fund, managed by Rev. Gill, with help from some other staff, to help people in need due to illness, unemployment, or some un-expected accident, setback, or tragedy. Every year it helps people in the congregation in need through financial and material assistance. It also helps those in the community and occasional transients who stop by the Church looking for assistance. This fund helps any youth/adult in the congregation who cannot afford to attend a retreat, or church event, that involves a cost, plus special organization needs in the community from time to time. The money for this fund comes from 2 main sources. The largest is the Christmas Memorial Program (see Christmas edition of the Waltonian, and above notice on Christmas Memorials), and individual donors throughout the year. All gifts to this fund receive a tax receipt. The work of the fund remains highly confidential to allow for anonymous support of people in need. For more information, please
speak to Rev. Gill 905-827-1643 or email office@waltonmemorial.com

Coach and Four

Introducing “Fruit of the Vine” – a Walton Church group focused for all women in their 30s, 40s and 50s. We meet once a month to get to know each other and build a sense of community among women at Walton. All are welcome and we’re looking forward to having the time to connect (away from the bustle of after church).

Our first event is Tuesday, September 26th at 7:30 pm at the Coach & Four for an evening of fun and relaxed conversation. Please register via Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/211780656021605 or email hello@waltonmemorial.com to let us know you’re planning to attend.

Benefit Concert

Pay what you can
[MOre Details]

A Gregory Cross Nanoknife Treatment Benefit Concert will be held at Walton United Church on Saturday, September 30th, 2017, at 7:30pm, presented by The Ault Sisters and Friends. Greg, a long-time Walton Choir Member, was recently diagnosed with terminal Pancreatic cancer. The only treatment available is IRE/Nanoknife Technology, which was not available or funded by OHIP in Canada, forcing Greg to seek treatment in England at a considerable cost of over $60,000. This Concert is to raise funds to help Greg pay for the cost of this life-extending treatment. All proceeds from the Concert will be donated to the Gregory Cross Nanoknife Treatment Trust Account. Admission to the Concert will be “Pay What You Can”  – no donation is too large or too small!  Please come out to the Concert and help support Greg’s fight against Pancreatic cancer!
