Trust - Advent Devotional @ Walton United Church, Oakville, Ontario

An angelic vision, offering the fulfilment of a dream long since abandoned, would have most of us convinced we were deluded and likely hallucinating. It’s understandable then that Zechariah (soon-to-be father of John the Baptist) questions the incredible pronouncement of the angel Gabriel and asks for a sign. And so we, who have signs and doubts perhaps in equal measure, can take comfort in knowing that even in the presence of angels questions can remain; but also in remembering that no matter how improbable something may appear, God is at work in our lives.

Loving God, open my eyes to the wonder of Your work in the world around me. Help me to trust You more and Your purpose for my life. Remind me to bring my cares and concerns always to You in prayer, even when they seem improbable and out of reach. Amen.

Luke 1: 18

Zechariah said to the angel, “How will I know that this is so? For I am an old man, and my wife is getting on in years.”

Thank you for joining us on this prayerful path through Advent.
Blessings and best wishes for 2018.
